PRODUCTS THAT HELP TREAT PEYRONIE’S DISEASE

If there would be one great nightmare a man would never want to experience his whole life, perhaps it would be unfortunately having Peyronie’s disease. This disease can definitely eat all the confidence a man may have most especially when in bed doing sexual activities as Peyronie’s disease causes an awfully annoying uncomfortable feeling to the penis. As a result, a man who has this kind of disease may not be able to perform well and could not satisfy himself and even his partner in bed.

SO, WHAT CAUSES THIS DISEASE?

Medical explanation says that Peyronie’s disease is caused by a plaque or a scar tissue which appears along the length of the penis or in the corpora cavernosa. Men may not be able to notice this at first as this plaque is not visible and thus, can’t be seen by the naked eye. If the condition of this disease becomes severe, it can then eventually result to a bent penis which makes sexual intercourse a painful one. According to research and studies, 5% of men may suffer from this kind of disease which causes them pain, abnormal penis curvature, erectile dysfunction, loss of girth and shortening of the penis.

The primary cause of Peyronie’s disease is not really well understood and traced. However, researchers conclude that some reasons this disease occur is because of trauma or injury in the penis which might happen while in sexual intercourse. Men may not be able to notice that they are already suffering from a certain penile injury, making them unaware that they are already close to developing the disease.

SUPPLEMENTS THAT HELP TREAT PEYRONIE’S DISEASE

Numerous collaborative studies were made to come up with a cure for the disease and by far, results of the studies have been mixed. Some says that surgeries can be helpful to men who have the disease while others say that non-surgical treatments are far more trusted.

The Collagenase clostridium histolyticum or known as Xiaflex, a drug that was originally approved by the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) to cure a particular disease called Dupuytren’s contracture, can now be also used to help treat Peyronie’s disease. This injectable FDA approved drug is effective in breaking down excess collagen in the penis which may eventually cause Peyronie’s disease.

On the other hand, surgical treatment can be considered as a man’s last resort if ever treating the Peyronie’s disease through taking medications are not helping anymore. The surgical operation of treating the disease is called “Nesbit Operation”. This was named after the famous Urologist, Reed M. Nesbit. Although undergoing surgical treatment can be considered highly effective, it has been advised that men who wants to undergo Nesbit Operation should make sure they are handled by only skilled urological surgeons who are knowledgeable in various surgical techniques especially that it is surely a risk for men to undergo such operation.

Apart from this, in some severe cases, a penile prosthesis may be appropriate so to correct the abnormalities in the penis.

PHYSICAL THERAPY

Although it is best to follow medication or to opt on having surgical treatments with regard to curing Peyronie’s disease, patients might also consider doing physical therapy as it is not only risk-free but it also assures men that there will be no shortening of the penis if they will do physical therapy instead of undergoing surgeries.

Regular manual stretching techniques or the usage of penis extenders are safe and are thought to be effective as it will constantly stretch the penis which gradually corrects the abnormal curvature of the penis. Results may not come in a flash through doing physical therapy but rest assured it is safe from complications and all other side effects that a drug medication, surgical treatments or implants might give.

Men who have Peyronie’s disease may really experience not just physical stress but also emotional disturbance. Dealing with this kind of disease is never easy as it affects the sexual life. Although most men would just continue with having an active sexual lifestyle, it would still be undeniable for them to not experience anxiety and depression since aside from not being able to fully enjoy sex due to some pain they would feel in their penis, they may also not give long lasting satisfaction to their partner.
